Salt spreaders and de-icer fluid are two of the most essential winter car products. When shopping for these products, it’s important to do your research. Salt spreaders and de-icer fluid come in a variety of forms, including granules, liquid, and sprays.

Sprinkle salt on icy patches. If you’re dealing with icy patches, sprinkle salt on the shortest route that a car would take to travel, according to Consumer Reports. Using salt as a de-icer will help keep the ice from accumulating longer.
